One Day in San Diego

Guest Blog: AjA's Youth Advisory Council

This spring, The AjA Project’s leadership program, Youth Advisory Council (YAC), is focusing on developing professional journalism and photojournalism skills through Youth Media. The Youth Media team is comprised of selected AjA students who – through the advanced program – participate in experiential learning projects, develop leadership skills and use art to advocate for social change in the City Heights community.

Through this semester’s Youth Media program, YAC members partnered with Speak City Heights, a local online news publication, to create content about news and social issues affecting their community.

Three of AjA’s Youth Media students – Famo Musa, Binti Musa and Beto Soto – will be participating in the One Day in San Diego Event on April 26th by spearheading interviews with local residents and creating video footage to contribute to the One Day Event collection. Using their photography and mixed media skills, Famo, Binti and Beto will illustrate what a day in San Diego looks like from a youth’s perspective.

Stay tuned for more information about The AjA Project’s Youth Media students and their story coverage on the day of the event.
